Later this month, a horror experience five years in the making will see the light on Steam. SUFFOCATE is a survival horror game from Taiwan-based indie studio Naughty Cow, and it’s officially set to arrive on October 23, just in time for Halloween.

Judging by the trailer, it looks like a great fit for spooky season. The story is set in the present day and takes inspiration from “real-life Taiwanese social issues and family narratives.” Multiple perspectives will be at play, and you can see a sample of its frights in the video below.

The team at Naughty Cow cites a number of inspirations beyond recent incidents in Taiwanese history, including The Untold Story, Island of Greed, the Liu Pang-yu murder and more.
