Spooky season gets an extension into the new year, because a date is in place for roguelike deckbuilder THE SPIRIT LIFT. Developer prettysmart games made the announcement during the Indie Horror Showcase, locking the haunted hotel adventure in for a January 27, 2026 launch.
Players step into the shoes of a group of ‘90s teens, tasked with exploring 13 levels of an “ever-changing 3D hotel” via a magical elevator. They’ll pick up plenty of cards, gold and gear along the way, and you can see a sample of what awaits in the new trailer below.

Encountering ghosts and other enemies leads to card-based battles, which is where all the strategic deck-building comes into play. Death is inevitable, giving players a chance to try out different party members and card combinations to see how far they can get the next time around.
Creative director and prettysmart games studio lead Miko Charbonneau said the team wanted to create a “roguelike deckbuilder that was both accessible to genre newcomers, with a fresh twist for veterans.” We’ll see how well they did when THE SPIRIT LIFT hits PC via Steam, where a demo is now available. In the meantime, you can read more about it on the developer’s official website.
