Cult of Blood marks the debut title from Dusty Box, an indie studio based in Thessaloniki, Greece. Dialing things back with some classic survival horror inspirations, this true story-inspired outing blends fixed camera angles and tank controls a la the original Resident Evil and its contemporaries with more modern aiming and dodging refinements, and it’s set for release on PlayStation, Xbox and PC in 2026.

You can see a sample of the tense atmosphere and action in the video below.

Despite its classic survival horror fixtures, Cult of Blood definitely looks like it’s nailing those modern enhancements, too. The mix of more fast-paced action also looks reminiscent of similarly-styled Capcom classics like the first couple Onimusha games. If you want to see how it all plays out so far, you can try a demo out on Steam.

Here’s more on the story and features:

The story follows a police officer sent to investigate unsettling reports, uncovering a village seemingly frozen in time and cut off from the outside world. What begins as routine quickly spirals into horror as a cult devoted to a priestess, who seeks to ascend as a goddess, ensnares him. The villagers are not vampires, but humans stripped of their souls and enslaved to the cult’s will. Inspired by a true story but reimagined with supernatural horror, the narrative explores the eternal fight between light and darkness, good and evil, forcing players to decide whether to destroy the cult and its queen, or succumb to its ritual.

  • Cinematic Horror – Fixed camera angles and chilling cutscenes create a film-like atmosphere.
  • Classic-Inspired Controls – Movement is deliberate and tense, capturing the essence of classic survival horror while adding modern refinements.
  • Intense Combat – Risky melee, limited ammunition, and enemy swarms turn every fight into a desperate struggle.
  • Brutal Boss Encounters – Face grotesque foes, culminating in a climactic, multi-phase final battle.
  • Survival & Upgrades – Collect blood souls to unlock new gear or upgrade weapons, and manage supplies carefully to endure the escalating nightmare
