Fans of Team Cherry’s 2017 Metroidvania hit Hollow Knight have been clamoring so loudly for the long-awaited followup, Hollow Knight: Silksong, that it became a meme of its own. It’s not completely unwarranted; after all, Silksong was first revealed back in 2019, but Team Cherry stayed strong and waited until everything was ready to confirm a release date.

Making the news even sweeter is the fact that said date is practically right around the corner. Hollow Knight: Silksong will make its way to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC (Steam, GOG, Humble Bundle) on September 4.

You’ll also be able to play starting at launch via Xbox Game Pass. Until then, savor the release date trailer below. 

Hollow Knight: Silksong Release Date Trailer

On top of the handcrafted and expansive world, the trailer touts over 200 enemies and 40 bosses. That alone sounds like quite the undertaking, reflecting the six-year wait that so many have bemoaned. Hollow Knight was a hugely successful entry in the genre, though, so rushing the sequel out to meet demand wouldn’t have paid off in the long run.
