The hype surrounding Hollow Knight: Silksong gradually built up to its recent release date announcement, which had an understandable ripple effect on the indie game community. To put it simply, there aren’t many small(ish) games out there that want to compete for exposure with such a hotly-anticipated game. Now, two more titles have been delayed in similar fashion: Baby Steps and Little Witch in the Woods.
The announcements follow recent delays from the likes of Aeterna Lucis, which moved to 2026; CloverPit, which has been moved to September 26; and Demonschool, which will now launch in November. The latest delays aren’t quite as significant as some of those, with both Baby Steps and Little Witch in the Woods opting to push their launches back to later in September.

First up is Little Witch in the Woods, which is currently in Early Access and was supposed to launch its full version on what is now Silksong Day, September 4. SUNNY SIDE UP moved that date back to September 15 and had the following to say about it:
“Recently, we finally announced with excitement the release date of the full version. However, shortly after our announcement, we learned that Hollow Knight: Silksong—a highly anticipated new title of a masterpiece in the gaming industry—is launching on the same day. Silksong is a game we look up to with awe as developers, and eagerly anticipate as players. Given its immense influence, we fear that launching Little Witch in the Woods on the same day would not only dishearten our dedicated team but also disappoint our devoted audience.”
In addition to PC, Little Witch in the Woods is in the works for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

Baby Steps—which is on the way from publisher Devolver Digital and developers Gabe Cuzzillo, Maxi Boch and Bennett Foddy—has put a good foot forward to shift from September 8 to September 23. The new release date trailer says all you need to know about the reason behind it.
Baby Steps will be available on PlayStation 5 and Steam when it launches.
